03.05.2023: ESG in the Banking Industry (in collaboration with Management Solutions)

Workshop of the Career Service in collaboration with Management Solutions.

Concern about the sustainable economy and climate change has come to the forefront of the collective global consciousness. Social movements lead to an increase in demand for sustainable products and increase the reputational risk suffered by certain sectors that are perceived to be responsible for climate change, as well as by the entities that finance them. Accordingly, the aim of this workshop is to provide the participants with an overview of the ESG principals and the effects that banking industry is experiencing from the admission and reporting. As well as practical insights about the risks and opportunities.

The Workshop will be done mainly in English and German

Goals of the workshop:

At the end of this workshop students will have a broad understanding about climate change risks and will be able to navigate the existing regulatory framework. In addition, you will be able to assess the risks and opportunities that the banking industry is facing.

Contents:

The workshop is structured in the following blocks:

- Understand what ESG pillars are and the risks associated with them

- Regulatory framework for ESG

- An applicable business case

- Chapter on social impact

- Methodology for calculating ESG risks and impacts

- ESG Business case

- Interactive discussion through Slido (tbc)

- Exchange of experience and discussion

Lecturer: 

Susan Cortes is a Manger of Management Solutions (MS). She studied Business and Administration and she has a Master in Finance in the Carlos III University of Madrid. In her career, she has been able to focus on risk management with particular focus on measurement methodologies for transition risk.
