23.11.2022: Data Science and AI at the Bundesbank

2022: Key decisions are data-driven. Making data the new oil of the 21th century. Germany's central bank, the Deutsche Bundesbank, must naturally be data-driven to meet its task in the Eurosystem that mainly aims at safeguarding prices but also financial stability. Triggered by the global financial crisis, demand for highly granular microdata has risen significantly within and outside the Bundesbank, which calls for methods and skills beyond Excel. Therefore, we want to give students a glimpse into how we apply Data Science and AI to cope with massive amounts of data while at the same time ensuring high data quality.

Objectives:

Students will get an insight about the Deutsche Bundesbank and the role of Data Science for solving real world problems in financial domain. Join our session and experience firsthand how challenging and complex data problems can be tackled.

The Deutsche Bundesbank is the independent Central Bank of Federal Republic of Germany. Eurosystem monetary policy is the Bundesbank's core business area. In addition, the Bundesbank performs other key tasks at both the national and international level. Amongst these are national supervision of credit institutions, payment systems and financial stability as well as statistics. To fulfil its tasks, the Bundesbank relies on detailed, high-quality data sources.

Target group:

Bachelor and master students with a strong quantitative background in the fields of statistics, computer science, data science, economics, business studies and alike.
