GOglobal Finance Graduate Trainee Program


This 2-year General Finance graduate program targets you as an outstanding Master student. It offers you a wide array of opportunities and experiences to prepare you for future roles within the Merck Finance organization. The program encompasses rotations across Finance functions and ensures continuous learning. This includes international assignments, mentoring and formal training resulting in your personal and professional development.


Your role:

During your 24-month rotation plan, you will get to know multiple facets of Finance and build a strong company-wide network. In the first 15 months at our headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany, you will experience different Finance areas with a focus on Controlling, Accounting and Reporting. You will deepen your understanding of the business, learn Finance tools and processes, and get to know the requirements of the Finance function. In addition to supporting daily business, you will also take ownership for high impact projects within Finance with direct senior management interactions.

In the subsequent nine-month assignment in one of our entities abroad (e.g. China, Taiwan or South Korea), you will be assigned to our Country Finance organization. As a member of the local team, you will be responsible for processes and projects within different local Finance functions to enhance your Finance expertise and to further develop business acumen as well as cross-cultural competences.

After successfully completing the program, you will move into an exciting role within the Group Finance organization in Germany or abroad, taking into consideration your interest and career aspirations, professional development opportunities, as well as business needs.

In addition, during the program you will participate in a comprehensive training curriculum focused on improving your hard- and soft-skills and will receive continuous mentoring.


The assessment center will take place in mid-March 2026. The program starts in September 2026 offering a permanent contract.

 

Who you are:

  • PhD or Master's degree (or equivalent) in Finance/Business Studies or Industrial Engineering/ Business Informatics with a focus on Corporate Finance, Accounting or Controlling with outstanding academic performance.
  • Practical experience of up to two years in Finance via internships (preferably international) or Working Student roles, e.g. in Accounting or Financial Controlling.
  • Sound financial knowledge and analytical skills.
  • High proficiency with digital tools and willingness to embrace new technologies; prior touchpoints to Finance digitization, data science and/or business intelligence are a plus.
  • Profound knowledge of MS Office; SAP, TM-1 and Tableau skills are a plus.
  • Fluency in Business English, plus a second language.
  • High learning agility and curiosity to problem solving. Team-player with strong presentation, communication, and networking skills.
  • Extracurricular activities are a plus.
